How did you learn about AIChE and why did you join?

I learned about AIChE during my sophomore year when a sophomore rep was making announcements about AIChE right before ECH 51 lecture. After hearing about all the professional and social events (company info sessions, mentorship program, etc.) offered, I decided to join because I was set on Chemical Engineering as my major and figured that ChemE-specific events would be helpful to find industries I wanted to work in as well as make new friends in my major.

How has AIChE helped you grow professionally and/or personally?

Before I joined AIChE, I had no clue about my post-graduation goals and was pretty lonely since I didn't know too many people at Davis. However, after joining AIChE, and after attending company info sessions, listening to guest speakers, and speaking with company reps 1-on-1, I became interested in several industries and decided to pursue internships in those areas for more hands-on experiences. Additionally, I was able to meet a lot of people in my major and bond over our struggles with common classes, and I met one of my currently closest friends at Davis. Thanks to AIChE, I didn't feel as lonely as I did before joining, and I realized that I really loved the ChemE community at Davis.

What's one interesting fact about you?

Whenever a classmate in high school wrote things (essays, paragraphs, etc.), he would always make sure that each line had at least two words in it, because having just one word on an entire line bothered him a lot. Somehow this transferred over to me, so whenever I see just one word on a new line, I get really anxious and want to get rid of it.

If you could bring one item with you to a deserted island (aside from food and water), what would it be and why?

My one item would be a very large bag. However, there would be a bunch of things inside that bag (including a knife, a matchbox, a hat, and spare clothes).
