How did you find AIChE and why did you join?

I learned about AIChE after seeing a flyer for a guest speaker event. I joined AIChE because I AIChE is very successful in preparing students for life after undergrad and providing them with the appropriate resources to build their own success. AIChE helps to inform and strenghten students on the nonacademic necessities and skills needed to shape their career, whether that be networking sessions or workshops on salary negotiating, etc.

How has AIChE help you grow as professionally and/or personally?

Out of all of the clubs I have been in, AIChE has been the most professional and had the highest learning curve. I have become much more comfortable sharing ideas and collaborating with others on projects. I have learned how to be flexible in my approach to problem solving when working with different personalities on a project. I have gained an immense amount of project management skills from putting on various events with campus organizations, companies, and alumni. Being a board member has helped me build the intuition that is needed to approach a problem when it hits you fast. My time management skills and ability to manage stress has improved significantly as well. The success of the club and my growth in professional skills is mostly a result of a respectful, positive, encouraging, hardworking, and passionate board members. My biggest lesson learned as a board member in AIChE is that any skill can be taught, but character cannot be taught.
